FAQs
Where is Papakea? Papakea is located in West Maui. It is one mile north of Ka'anapali and three miles north of Lahaina. A map to guide you from Kahului Airport to our condo will be sent to you with your Key Release Request form.

What is the weather like? It is about 75-85 degrees. It may rain but rarely all day long. In November through April, you'll have lots of whales to watch and great winter surf! (The weather varies on average only eight degrees between summer and winter.) When the tradewinds are blowing, it is balmy and almost cool (no AC needed); when they aren’t, it can feel quite humid and hot.

Where is the airport? There are two airports. We recommend that you fly direct to Maui, to Kahului Airport, which is 30 miles (45 minutes) from Papakea. That way, you can avoid the the busy Honolulu Airport. If you do fly into Honolulu, we would recommend that you then take a shuttle over to Kapalua Airport (a.k.a. West Maui Airport) which is about two miles from Papakea. You can book on either Island Air Shuttle, 800.652.6541, http://www.islandair.com or Go Airlines, 888.435.9462, 5am - 10pm Hawaii time, http://www.iflygo.com.

Tip: Try to carry on a small bag instead of checking luggage so you can avoid a 1.5-hour delay at both ends of the trip. All you need to take is shorts and tops, swimsuits, flip-flops (you can buy a beach towel in Maui) - - no tennies or jeans unless you plan to go to the top of Hale’akala Volcano. Wear shorts on the plane. When you arrive in hot, humid Maui, you'll be SO HAPPY not to have on jeans or tennies.

What's within walking distance? If you can tear yourself away from the resort, there is a beautiful 3-mile, round-trip walk on Ka'anapali Beach. There is no need for shoes on this stroll. If you love to snorkel, there is a beautiful underwater coral garden just a few hundred yards to the left of the resort. Bring your mask, snorkel, and fins, and buy a disposable underwater camera. Love to cook? A small shopping center is within walking distance. Tennis courts, swimming pools with jet spas, saunas, and putting greens are on the resort's 13-acre grounds, and championship golf courses are but moments away. There are weekly resort activities; sailing, surfing, scuba, cruises, helicopter tours, and sumptuous luaus can be arranged at the activities desk in the lobby.

Internet / email access? For those of you who need to combine business with pleasure, high-speed Wireless Internet service is provided at no cost.
